We have been together since 1999, and soon realised that one of our many shared interests was foreign travel and holidays in the sun! Having spent many happy times in exotic destinations - as well as on particular favourite Greek islands - we came to the conclusion that it would be a great idea to make a holiday location our permanent home, but one where we could also welcome friends, family and guests to visit, and enjoy a standard of accommodation that we ourselves would like to encounter on our own expeditions. Having grown tired of the corporate world that we had endured for too long in London, we decided to spread our wings and see if we could turn a good idea into a reality, and eventually ‘discovered’ the Valencia region of Spain in general and – more importantly – Villa Florencia in particular. The whole area captivated us with its beautiful mountain landscapes, verdant orange groves and award winning beaches that stretch all along the coast. An interesting added benefit of this part of Spain is that it enjoys plentiful supplies of water thanks to underground lakes that are drawn upon to irrigate the citrus groves and the fields of rice (hence the fact that paella originates from this part of Spain), and therefore the area does not have the dry and arid landscape that is so often associated with the Mediterranean. We therefore decided that this was the place for us to make a live-changing move to, took the plunge, and have never had a moment’s regret. Our families and friends come to visit us and enjoy our comfortable and welcoming home and its surroundings, and we hope you will be able to do the same. Whether your interests lie in exploring this part of the country maybe with a view to purchasing a property here, or just having a relaxing break from everyday life, we will do our utmost to make you feel welcome and ‘at home’. You can go for walks in the surrounding hills or orange groves, hire a mountain bike if you are feeling more energetic, or simply enjoy the sunshine all day around the generously sized pool or on one of the nearby beaches. We run Villa Florencia with all the facilities and comforts of a small country hotel, but with the informality of a friendly guest house where you can enjoy comfortable and spacious rooms, good food, good wine, and good conversation. It is the kind of place we have enjoyed staying in ourselves, and we, look forward to extending a friendly welcome to you in the near future.
